Fall Update

Colombia Bound
Be sure to mark us on your map!

About a month ago, the Missionary Training Center had its annual “field fair” where missionaries from all over the world come and share about the country they are serving in and the needs that are there. We went into field fair with Papua New Guinea on the top of our list but praying that God would reveal to us where He wanted us to go. The Rep from Colombia shared about the vision the field has for working with the local church to reach the unreached and how for years Colombia was closed because of guerrilla groups, but in the last few years the field has opened back up. We had many of our questions answered and over the next few weeks, it became more and more clear that we could easily see ourselves working in Colombia. We still have more training to do here but we are excited to have at least a direction on where we could be serving in the next few years. If you want to know more about our decision in choosing Colombia feel free to ask.

Classes have been very good and we have been learning so much that will help us in the future. We recently finished CLA Practicum. “CLA” stands for Culture and Language Acquisition. In class, we studied the language and culture of real people group in Papua New Guinea and spent time in a “village” setting learning about their lives and how different they were from us. It was so good practicing in a controlled environment what we will be doing overseas one day. Both Laura and I have had opportunities to teach at the outreach we are involved in and build friendships with people in the community. Please be praying that the Holy Spirit will be working on the hearts of these people through us as we continue to study the Bible together.

Building Relationships for the Gospel

Last month we were able to find out the gender (see picture below) of our little one due in February! God has blessed us so much and we are looking forward to what He will continue to do in our lives. Laura has been tired all the time but is still being a champ and teaching lessons in town as well being involved in Church and classes.

gender reveal!
Baby Girl on the Way!!!

We are super excited about this little one coming next year but it does complicate things a little bit. Our tiny two-door car isn’t going to cut it once the baby is here with her car seat and everything else we will need for her so we are praying and searching for a car that we can upgrade to, especially when considering the drive back home in May of next year with all our stuff and the baby. God has been so faithful in providing for us and we know He will continue to do so. Remember us in your prayers and let us know if you would like to give toward our car budget or toward our ministry fund.

We have bought our tickets home and will be back in Washington from December 18th thru January 10th. We are looking forward to spending time with the Church family and seeing friends that we miss. If you would like to get together with us to hear more about what our ministry would look like in Colombia or just to catch up, let us know!
